ERASMUS MUNDUS SCHOLARSHIPS

Erasmus Mundus Partner country Scholarships (for third-country students)

The European Commission offers a limited number of Erasmus Mundus Partner country scholarships for third country (non-EU) students. Only less than 8% of applicants in previous years obtained the scholarship. Applicants are advised to look for alternative sources of fundings as early as possible.
Partner country scholarships are worth up to €47,000-49,000 which covers:
- two-year participation fee of up to €18,000 including tuition fee and mandatory insurance;
- travel, installation and visa related costs up to: €5,000-7,000;
- monthly living allowance of €1,000 for 24 months.
Partner country scholarships can be awarded to students from all countries other than the 27 EU member states and EEA/EFTA states: Turkey, FYROM, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway.
Furthermore, you must comply with the 12 months rule: you are not a resident nor have carried out your main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in these countries. The five-year reference period for this rule is calculated backwards as from the application submission deadline.
Click here to find out if your contry is considered to be a 'third-country'. Applicants are advised to consult the European Comission Erasmus Mundus Programme Guide for further detailed information.
The deadline for Erasmus Mundus scholarship applications for the academic year 2015-2016 is:
    • 10 December 2014, GMT 17:00

 Application

NOTE: STUDENTS ARE ADVISED TO PREPARE THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS IN ADVANCE.
Your application including the following documents must be submitted online by the above deadline:
  • Certified copies of academics transcripts (translated into English).
  • EUROPASS CV.
  • English language proficiency test certificate (IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 650 in written paper test; or 280 in computerised test; or 100 in internet-based test).
  • An academic qualification essay based on research literature on any aspect of lifelong learning.
  • Personal statement of motivation (max. 450 words) stating the following: your academic interest in Lifelong Learning Policy, your academic interest in Lifelong Learning Management, and your career plan after the completion of the course
  • Two recommendation letters from former/current supervisors of which one must be academic referee.
  • Passport (photo page)
Application results
  • The applicants who are not selected for the scholarships will receive notification by email in March 2015.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be requested to send hard copies of supporting documents in March 2015.
  • The scholarship applicants on the main list and reserve list will receive the final results of their applications in early May 2015 after the Consortium has received the final selection approval from the European Commission.
  • When a main list student withdraws, he/she is replaced by the first eligible candidate on the reserve list. In this particular case, the eligibility criterion concerns the nationality of the reserve list candidate and the rule concerning the presence of a maximum of two nationals from the same country among the scholarship holders for a given category shall be observed. If there are already two other students with the same nationality on the main list, the consortium will have to take the next eligible candidate respecting its own ranking list in line with the European Commission regulations.

  • The participation fee for third-country students for the entire two-year programme is €16,000 including tuition fee and mandatory insurance.

Mobility tracks for batch 10 (2015-2017)

In the academic year 2015-2016, all MALLL students in batch 10  will study the first year at the institute of Education in London, England. The third semester will be at Deusto University, Spain. For the fourth semester, students can choose one of the three European universities to write their thesis.
Erasmus Mundus Programme country scholarship students must study one module of the second semester in July-August 2016 at Melbourne Graduate School of Education, University of Melbourne, Australia. EU/EEA self-funded students can opt to study the same module in Melbourne.
Erasmus Mundus Programme country scholarship students and EU/EEA self-funded students must study in at least two European universities outside the country where they obtained their latest university degree and each study period must give theme at least 30 ECTS (Melbourne module will only give 15 ECTS, so it does not count). These mobility periods cannot be replaced by virtual mobility. Neither can they take place in institutions outside the consortium.
For example, a Danish student with Programme country scholarship has finished the first year in Copenhagen, can only go back to Copenhagen for the fourth semester if his/her BA degree was obtained from another country than Denmark.
A British student holding a Programme country scholarship and a British BA degree, can start MALLL at IoE London in the first year, move to Melbourne for 1 module, then go to Bilbao and must finish thesis in Copenhagen.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION:
Please note that the number of applications by a third country student must be limited to a maximum of three Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses.
If a student applies to more than three Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses he/she will be excluded from the selection for an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.
Swiss students is considered as Partner country students.
In addition, only individuals who have not previously benefitted from an Erasmus Mundus scholarship are eligible to apply. Applicants are asked to sign a declaration confirming that they have not previously received an Erasmus Mundus scholarship in the Scholarship Application Form and in the Scholarship Agreement.
If a student is selected (proposed for a scholarship, put on the reserve list, or enrolled on a self paying basis) his/her data may be used for the purposes of evaluating the Erasmus Mundus Programme and will be made available to the Agency, the EM National Structures, the EU Delegations and the Erasmus Mundus Student and Alumni Association, acting as stakeholders of the programme.

SCHOLARSHIP and MOBILITY programme between EUROPE and the AFRICA, CARIBBEAN AND PACIFIC (ACP)

SCHOLARSHIP and MOBILITY programme between EUROPE and the AFRICA, CARIBBEAN AND PACIFIC (ACP) region for Master Students PhD Students Academic and administrative Staff
For more information on the program and application procedure:

CARIBU is an Erasmus Mundus Action 2 (EMA2) partnership program that aims at increasing academic mobility, research and capacity building opportunities between 8 EU universities (Belgium (2), Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Poland, Portugal, Romania) and countries from the ACP region (Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, Gambia, Ghana, the Bahamas, Suriname, Timor-Leste, Samoa). The project is devoted to creating a mutual forum for scientific cooperation, learning enhancement and exchange of best practices. All partners in the project will strive to meet the needs of the involved countries including through the support to the development of disadvantaged regions, with a special attention given to equal opportunity and gender balance.
Seven priority fields have been defined by the consortium, which offer a broad range of disciplines (ICT, management, science, agriculture, social sciences, engineering and environment) in which Masters and PhD students as well as academic and administrative staff (hereby referred as “Staff”) will be able to take part in mobility schemes under a scholarship program. Please, note that the scholarship program is directed only towards ACP students and staff coming to Europe, and in some specific cases, to staff going in one of the ACP partner university.
The program will benefit students, researchers and staff members who will bring an immediate impact in their home institutions through the exchange of best practices, mutual sharing of knowledge, teaching and management skills as well as a very enriching linguistic, cultural and educational experience.
With the objective to achieve better understanding and mutual enrichment between the EU and Third countries, the European commission has launched the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 programs, implemented by its executive agency, the Culture, Audiovisual and Education Executive Agency (EACEA). By creating exchange opportunities between partner higher education institutions, the EMA2 programs contribute to fostering academic and scientific cooperation projects that pave the way to strong and long term partnerships.
